Torres is in his fourth year with the Hawks. As a freshman, Torres was
a member of both
the varsity and junior
varsity teams. Last year, Torres stepped up to center the second line.
A steady smart player, Torres was invaluable as a penalty killer. His
first varsity goal came against Steinert High School in the Mercer
County Park Rink back on January 4. On January 30, Torres set up Baz
Gutierrez for the game tying goal in a 1-1 final against Morristown
High School. Last year, Torres, along with Luke Ingles and Daniel
Lucas, was named one of the teams tri-captains. He played on the Hawks
top line and was
one of the team leaders in scoring. Torres first 2-goal game came in
the Ice House against Demarest High School. This year, Torres is
contributing on both offense and defense.Torres started skating at the age of five at clinics in Pershing Field. His first travel team was the Jersey City Capitals Mite "B" team with teammate Daniel Lucas when he was seven years old. Both Torres and Lucas returned to the Capitals the following year. Torres then moved to the Bayonne Squirt "B" team the next year. Five years ago, he moved up to the New Jersey Devils Youth Pee-wee "B" team that took 3rd place in the Atlantic District Championships. Four years ago, Torres moved up to the Devils Bantam "A" team. In his last year, he was back with the Devils on the Bantam "AA" team.
Outside of hockey, Torres likes to play baseball and soccer in his hometown of Hoboken. As a freshman, Torres was a member of the Hudson Catholic JV soccer team. For the past two years, he was on the varsity team. At Hudson Catholic, Torres is a Peer Minister. Currently, Torres is a freshman at St. Peter's College in Jersey City.
