Zack Ottobre is in his second
year with the Hawks. Last year, Ottobre became a backup goalie for
senior starter Armand Campos. This year, he will be the main man
between the pipes. His first game back was on December 18, 2009 against
Hackensack in the Charlie Heger Rink in Pershing Field when he came in
the game in the third period. He appeared in five games during his
sophomore year. He made a season high saves (19) on February 8, 2010
against St. Joseph's Regional (Montvale) at the Charlie Heger
Rink. As a junior, Ottobre made his first career start on December 4, 2010 against Vernon High School at Skylands Rink. On December 30, 2010, in the Rich Korpi Rink against Morris Hills, Ottobre got his first win in net as the Hawks won the bronze medal of the Bayonne Holiday Tournament. On January 8, 2011, he made a career high saves in a game with 40 against Fair Lawn High School in Floyd Hall Arena. On February 19, 2011, Ottobre notched his first playoff win in net, in an 8-2 victory in the NJIHL Western Division quarter-finals against Vernon High School at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm, NJ. He made 24 saves in net for the win. This is the first playoff win for a Hawk goalie since A.J. Drago defeated Pope John in 2003. Ottobre spent his freshmen year at Kearny High School before transferring to Hudson Catholic. He made the varsity baseball team last year as a catcher and should be back behind the plate this year.
