2007-08 VARSITY RESULTS


December 1:   Passaic Valley 13  -  HAWKS

           Chris Hendricks scored the lone Hawk goal off a pass from Daniel Lucas in the first period. Freshman goalie Chris Peterson made 30 saves in the loss.
December 2:   Newton 6  -  HAWKS 2

           Despite outshooting Newton 52 to 41, the Hawks managed only two goal by senior defenseman Luke Ingles. Down 5-0, Ingles scored on a breakaway at the 7:57 mark of the second period. Ingles and Daniel Lucas scored the best goal of the night on a two-on-one to pull the Hawks to within three with six minutes to go in the game, but thats as close as they would come. Braves goalie Justin Hofman made 49 saves against the Hawks while Chris Peterson made 36 saves in net for Hudson Catholic.
December 10:   DePaul Catholic 7  -  HAWKS 2

            Chris Hendricks and Alex Torres lit the lamp for Hudson Catholic, but a late rally came up short as the Hawks dropped a 7-2 decision to DePaul Catholic in a Northern Blue Conference game on Monday night.

               Hendricks put Hudson Catholic (0-3) on the board on an even strength goal late in the second period that was assisted by Marc Lombardi and Chris Miterko. In the third, the Hawks took advantage of a power play opportunity when Ingles connected with Torres for a goal. Chris Peterson made 20 saves between the pipes for Hudson Catholic.

               DePaul Catholic (4-0) was paced by Joe Barberi and Kyle Watzick who had two goals and two assists apiece. Matt Fantuzzi made five saves. [Jersey Journal article - 12-12-07]
December 16:   Demerest 5  -  HAWKS 0

            The Hawks took 30 shots on goal but couldn't get one in as Gary Schoeppler notched the shutout for Demerest. Chris Peterson made 30 saves for the Hawks.
December 17:   Hackettstown 6  -  HAWKS 3 0

             Senior captain Daniel Lucas scored twice in the second period, but the Hawks fell short to Hackettstown in a Northern Conference Red Division matchup Tuesday night. Lucas scored twice in a 26 second span to tie the game at 2-2.

              The first goal was on the power play with Luke Ingles registering the assist. The tying goal, which occured 2:36 into the second, was assisted by Ingles and Josh Furlong. Ingles added a power play goal in the third period with Alex Torres earning the assist. Chris Peterson made 19 saves for Hudson Catholic. Tyler Palma made 18 saves for Hackettstown, while Eric Williams tallied a pair of short-handed goals.

January 4:   Demerest 4  -  HAWKS 1 0

             Daniel Lucas scored a powerplay goal in the third period against Demerest off assists from Jonathan Guarino and Alec Torres as the Hawks dropped a 4-1 game despite outshooting Demerest 34 to 29. Chris Peterson made 25 saves in net for the Hawks. Jeff Poulos had two goals for Demerest.
January 5:   Hackensack 8  -  HAWKS 3 0

             The Hawks scored a goal in each period against Hackensack at the Ice House. Daniel Lucas scored an unassisted goal in the first which was followed by Luke Ingles unassisted goal in the second. Lucas added a powerplay goal in the third off assists from Ingles and Alec Torres. Chris Peterson made 35 saves for the Hawks who were outshot 43 to 19. Jack Marut had a hat trick for Hackensack.
January 6:   DePaul Catholic 10  -  HAWKS 1 0

             Sophomore Christopher Hendricks scored the lone goal for the Hawks in the second period off assists from Alec Torres and Daniel Lucas. Chris Peterson made 37 saves for the Hawks. Pete Ross had a hat trick for DePaul.
January 11:   Old Tappan 7  -  HAWKS 3

             T
he Hawks scored a trio of goals in under two minutes in the third period, but fell short to Old Tappan, 7-3, at Pershing Field. Hudson Catholic freshman Chris Peterson had a goal and two assists in his first game not playing in goal for Hudson Catholic. Luke Ingles started the scoring for the Hawks when he chipped in a shot off assists from Peterson and Marc Lombardi. Nigel Todd also lit the lamp for the Hawks for his first varsity goal off passes from Peterson and Chris Hendricks. Peterson scored 16 seconds after Todd off passes from Lombardi and Alex Torres. Sophomore Armand Campos made 17 saves for Hudson Catholic in his first game between the pipes. Eric Wright and Sean Boylan each had hat tricks for Old Tappan while Eric Phenix made 30 saves in net as the Hawks outshot Old Tappan 33 to 24.
January 13:   River Dell 11  -  HAWKS 2

            
Chris Miterko scored his first varsity goal when he redirected a pass from Christopher Hendricks through the legs of River Dell goalie Mark Arakelian. Chris Peterson also assisted on the goal. Peterson added his own goal in the third when he skated out from behind the net and put a shot in over Arakelian's glove. Hawk goalie Armand Campos made 15 saves in net as the Hawks were outshot 26 to 23.
January 14:   Passaiv Valley 15  -  HAWKS 0

             Not a good night for the Hawks as they lost their league game to Passaic Valley. Hawk goalie Armand Campos made 28 saves in net.
January 18:   HAWKS 6 - Hackettstown 5  

             T
he Hawks rebounded from their worse loss of the season with their first win. Jonathan Guarino's slapshot goal put the Hawks up midway through the first period. After the Tigers tied it seconds later, Nigel Todd scored his first of three goals off assists from Guarino and Luke Ingles. The Tigers tied it again before the end of the first.
                 Ingles an unassisted goals in the second to retake the lead for the Hawks, but the Tigers came back again to ti it at three each. Todd would score his second goal off assists from Marc Lombardi and Chris Miterko to retake the lead for the final time.
                 Miterko would score a breakaway goal for a 5 - 3 lead early in the 3rd period with an assist going to Ingles. The Tigers would cut the Hawks lead to one before Todd scored his final goal on a scramble in front of the Tigers net for a 6 - 4 with assists going to Miterko and Alec Torres. The Tigers would score a powerplay goal with 34 seconds left in the game but were denied the tying goal in the final seconds.   
                  Hawk goalie Chris Peterson made 25 saves for his first varsity win.
